This traditional water well is designed for villages facing extreme water shortages and no electricity, ensuring reliable access to clean water. Built in Niger, one of the driest countries in Africa, this well serves as a lifeline for over 120 people, or approximately 15 families or more.
Due to the very dry conditions in Niger, construction of this well takes longer than usual, but once completed, it provides a dependable water source for generations. The well features both an electric pump for easy access and a traditional bucket system for daily use, ensuring that water is always available, even when electricity is not. With multiple buckets, both men and women can draw water at the same time, making it a practical and efficient solution for the community.
Primarily built for drinking water, the well also supports hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, and farming, improving the overall quality of life for those who rely on it.
Once the well is built in your name (or a name of your choice), you will receive a collection of pictures and videos documenting the construction process, along with the exact location of the well.
